PSHE

At St. Mary's the development of the whole child is paramount and for this reason we have ensured that our personal development at St. Mary's is exceptional. The pupils' develop across the entire curriculum, however, distinct PSHE lessons are taught weekly using the Jigsaw programme.

Each half term there is a different unit of learning. The children visit the same 6 units each year, however, learning is revisited and developed each time the unit is revisited. The units are as follows:

Jigsaw is designed to ensure that the statutory elements of the curriculum are taught to children, and are done in an age appropriate way. There are overlaps with the science curriculum with regards to Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) and the changes to humans as we grow from a biological perspective.
