Maths
At St. Mary's we believe in creating mathematicians. Our curriculum is planned to enable pupils to be immersed in a mathematical concept so that they can consolidate learning and become as proficient as possible. Teachers plan many opportunities for children to apply their maths learning to as many different real life scenarios, and across the curriculum.
We use the Power Maths Program and other high quality resources such as White Rose and NRICH. Our maths units provide enough time for children to consolidate and then apply their learning to real contexts. The units are taught as follows:
Number and Place Value
Addition and Subtraction
Geometry
Measurement
Multiplication and Division
Algebra (Years 5 and 6)
Ration and Proportion (Years 5 and 6)
